The isolated storm which included torrential rain and strong winds damaged various buildings and brought down trees across the district.
"Council is working to assist the Cohuna community in cleaning up from this isolated incident," Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
"As with any emergency situation, responsible agencies such as VICSES and Victoria Police may approach Council for assistance if required, be it equipment or personnel."
Residents who need to dispose of green waste, including fallen tree limbs, can do so for free at Council's transfer stations on Sunday, 1 March. The Cohuna Transfer Station, located at Chuggs Road, will be open from 12 noon-4pm, with the Kerang Transfer Station, located at Kerang-Murrabit Road, will be open from 1pm-4pm. Residents accessing this service will need to provide their name, address and phone number upon request.
"With the chances of thunderstorms featuring heavy falls forecast on Sunday and Monday, residents are encouraged to stay up to date with any Bureau of Meteorology-issued weather warnings, which Council will promote via our Facebook page," Mr Rollinson said.
