Brolga Street, Kerang stormwater improvements underway
Properties located along Brolga Street, Redgum Drive and the southern end of Marne Street, Kerang will benefit from the installation of new stormwater infrastructure.
Work has started to install new stormwater pipes along Brolga Street, Kerang, with the project scheduled to be completed by mid-March.
"Council is committed to working with our residents and businesses to improve our urban stormwater networks," Gannawarra Shire Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
"Brolga Street and the southern section of Marne Street are susceptible to flash flooding following significant, intensive rainfall, which was evident during Christmas Day 2023 when a power outage impacted the town, and early January 2024.
"These works will provide an additional connection to the town's stormwater network, which will reduce the time it takes to remove stormwater from this location when significant rainfall occurs."
Reduced speed limits and traffic management controls will be in place to ensure the safety of those completing the project.
"Council thanks residents and motorists for their understanding as these works are completed and looks forward to the completion of these important projects," Mr Rollinson said.
