Community feedback sought on Koondrook shared path project
Gannawarra Shire Council is continuing community consultation on a proposed shared walking and cycling path that will improve safety and connectivity in Koondrook.
The project, which is partially funded through the Victorian Government's Flexible Local Transport Solutions Program, will deliver a dedicated pedestrian and cycling link between the Koondrook CBD, Apex Park and the Koondrook school precinct, including Koondrook Primary School and Preschool.
Council is currently engaging directly with residents located along the proposed route and is also consulting with Koondrook Primary School, with feedback received before 5pm Friday, 6 November to assist in the development of the path's final design.
The proposed 630-metre path will begin at Apex Park, extend along the southern side of Arbuthnot Street and continue north along the western side of Forest Street to Koondrook Primary School. Once completed this path will provide a safer alternative to the existing informal route between the township and school precinct, which currently passes through an active industrial area.
"Council is committed to improving pedestrian and cycling connections across our communities, and this project represents an important step towards providing a safer and more accessible route between Koondrook's town centre and school precinct," Council Chief Executive Officer, Geoff Rollinson said.
"The proposed path would provide a dedicated off-road connection for people walking and cycling, improving safety while making it easier for residents to access local services, recreational facilities and businesses.
"It would also encourage healthy and active transport options, while supporting children and young people travelling to and from school."
The proposed designs can be viewed online by clicking on the Koondrook Shared Pathway heading at

Council will continue to provide updates regarding the project through its website, Facebook page and
